Students wanting to travel to Ireland and who want an internship placement can enroll in the option “Irish Studies”. Staff from the Study Abroad Dublin Program will place students according to their specific job interests with local businesses in and around the greater Dublin area. Students will be asked to complete relevant forms and send these to Classport, together with their resume, their cover letter and the mandatory deposit. Classport will work with its network of Dublin employers to match students according to their desired business.
In order to ensure that both parties are suited to each other, we will organize a virtual interview between the student and employer. Pre departure orientation will be provided for each student, which will include information about business culture in Dublin (such as what to wear, starting and ending times of a typical day and how to relate with other employees and employers). An onsite orientation will occur prior to the first week at the internship, and assistance will be provided for students on the first day of internship placement.
All places of employment utilized by Classport will be near transportation routes in Dublin or within walking distance of the students´ homestay.
Students will participate in weekly seminar meetings with Classport instructors and will be required to participate in weekly excursions and one overnight excursion. In addition, interns will be encouraged to attend weekly social activities that are part of the Summer Dublin program. A 24-hour onsite coordinator will be available to assist with issues related to internship placement, housing and all other general needs while in Dublin.
